Chicago Radio Legends Perform Together

I am deficient of superlatives as I attempt to demonstrate a verbal depiction of one of the most rare events in Chicago history. This may be the first time ever that not one; not two, but three divas, legends and icons of Chicago radio will perform together on stage in the classic production of “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf”. Radio V103’s Bonnie DeShong &Troi Tyler and WGCR.FM web-satellite radio’s LaDonna Tittle will make history when they step on stage together at Kennedy King College, Katherine Dunham Theater December 5th and 6th at 8:00PM and the 7th at 6:00PM. The twist in the plot is that they are now Colored women, mature and confident. We call the production “Colored Girls Revisited”.

The cast also includes veteran actresses Cynthia Maddox (of Barbershop 2 & One Week), Yatta Carter, Darnice Crump, Comedian Paulette Flowers and a magnificent alternate cast member, Ms. Deborah Crable (of Ebony Jet Showcase). Colored Girls... is Directed by L.C. Satterfield and Produced by Attorney Ernesto D. Borges Jr.

From its inception in 1974 to its critical success on Broadway, this work has excited and inspired audiences all over the country. "For Colored Girls..." is a group of 20 poems for seven actors on the power of black women to survive in the face of despair and pain. This passionate and fearless rendition of author Ntozake Shange, reveals what it means to be of color and female in the 21st century. Staring Chicago radio personalities V103 102.7 FM's Bonnie DeShong and Troi Tyler and WGCR.FM web-satellite radio’s La Donna Tittle, and local talents Cynthia Maddox (Barber Shop 2 and One Week) and Paulette Flowers this vivid and powerful play resonates with unusual beauty in its fierce message to the world.
